daisy's destruction

I watched as my partner of 13 years destroyed my life and I couldn't do anything to stop it. I've lost friends, family, and the only home I knew - all because of this person's affect on me. It started back in 2012 with some minor itching that came and went. When the first red bumps appeared on his fingers and then disappeared a few days later, we thought nothing of it. Until they reappeared a few weeks later with more intensity, this time on his arms as well as around his mouth where there were also oozing sores. By now he was beginning to feel tired after each bite so we put him on antibiotics for good measure to prevent infection from developing further... I thought this must be some kind of allergic reaction to something he had eaten, and I was right. The red spots reappeared but this time there were even more of them and the sores on his mouth kept getting worse. He went back to the doctor and we thought we were dealing with a physical allergy that would be easy to cure. The doctor gave him a steroid shot and some cream our usual antihistamine and sent us on our way. There were no visible signs of bedbugs at this point so we didn't think about them as a real possibility... Soon after, his condition worsened, the biting came in at night now as well as during the day and seemed to be random as far as location went... my partner was terrified. He would wake up with a start and scratch frantically at his arms, legs and face in a panic - he even thought he heard them in his sleep. He had found it impossible to sleep through the night and was too exhausted during the daytime to take any action. I would try to reassure him, but by now it seemed like I was part of the problem... He couldn't go out at night any more, I couldn't sleep in the same room and we were both in agony. We couldn't go into public places without feeling like people were staring at us or that we were being watched - we felt ashamed and guilty almost as if we were involved in something we weren't aware of. We spent over $4000 on medical treatments, urgent care visits, pest control companies, steam cleaners and even went to the emergency clinic once because his sores were so bad he couldn't eat or drink. We vacuumed our apartment every other day (even in the shower) and taped up all of our clothes in plastic bags. I washed everything he wore in hot water, sprayed everything else with insecticide and scrubbed the apartment twice a week... nothing worked. It seemed there was no end to them... One afternoon I was leaving the apartment to get some groceries when I noticed some very tiny reddish-brownish dots on my pant leg that I couldn't brush away no matter how hard I tried. I had never seen bedbugs before (nor had my partner) so I was unable to identify them correctly. I panicked and went back into the apartment screaming at my partner that there were bedbugs. He too, was convinced they were on me and panicked. We both started spraying everything - my shopping bags, our clothes in heaps on the floor, the furniture - even the dog! I started reading about bedbugs online so I could help him with his problem since he wasn't sleeping well enough to think clearly... I finally figured out what they were but by then it was too late - my partner didn't believe me anymore. He was too busy looking for signs of them on himself. eccc085e13
